Cirriculum integration is the usage of technology and software to enhance student learning. Through this you can reach different learning styles. Technology is becoming important in learning, so this is becoming more common. Computer labs are common is almost every school. This gives teachers a place to use their cirriculum integration.
This last week I learned how to do a powerpoint. I had done one once before, but I have not had much experience with it. I found it to be quite easy to do the basics. As I went along I figured out how to do all of the requirements and I was able to complete the assignment. Powerpoints are extremely helpful in education. They can be used for activities, visual learning and much more.
Eventhough I am not an education major, I can still use powerpoints in the buisness world. As an event planner, I can use powerpoints to propose ideas to my clients. It is a great way to give my clients a visual image of what I am proposing. Organized, creative and original powerpoints can express who I am and how I do things.

Digital media is a presentation that is done on the computer and includes multimedia. Interactive digital media allows the user to work at their own pace and interact with the presentation. These are used in many classrooms and create fun, educational learning for students. Teachers can make Interactive Media Presentations about ANYTHING! Some elements included in these presentations are text, graphics, animation, audio, and video. All of these aspects enhance the presentation and incirporate different learning styles.

This week I have learned to do several things on the computer that will be important to me in the future. The first thing I learned to do was create a website. I learned how to create it on word and transform it into a website. This will be useful to me, because technology is everywhere. A website would help me communicate with my co workers and if I was a teacher it would help me communicate with my students and their parents. I also learned how to create a wiki. I always wondered how wikipedia worked. I think that a wiki can be very useful in a work envirinment, because it is a place where everyone can go and view everyones opinions.

Well, I am actually in the middle of registering for classes and I need 2 more elective classes! I am in Rec and Leisure, so I am looking for elecives that go alog with that, but if they don't then that is fine too! I would greatly appreciate any help!

One topic that chapter 2 covers is the different networks. Three of the networks are home, local area and wide area. I actually have a home network. A home network is a series of computers in a home that use the same source of internet. All of the computers can actually access the same files. A Local Area Network (LAN) covers a smaller area. Sometimes this includes a school or office building. Local Area Networks can also be wireless. Most networks these days are wireless. A Wide Area Network (WAN) covers a big area which could include a school district or city. Usually a Wide Area Network is made up by several Local Area Networks.
In the last practice test and skills check I learned how to make tables with specific cells, columns and rows. I probably could have figured it out on my own, but I just never took the time. This feature of word will be helpful when I have a classroom, because I can create charts and sign-up sheets.
Last post I wrote about how I was trying to decide if I should change my major. Over the weekend I went home (Jacksonville) and talked to my parents and some of their friends. They suggested going into Recreation and leisure, because if I am unsure of teaching and I graduate with a teaching degree, then I am in a rut if I do not like it. Recreation and leisure is really exiting to me and I can always go back and get my teaching certificate. Because of all of these reasons and many more I am switching my major today.

It is amazing to me how many input devices there are. Basically an input device is what you use to put things into the computers's memory. Back in the day there were just keyboards and mouses, but now there are so many more devices. There are digital cameras, pens, and touchscreens. Also there are joysticks and wheels that are used to play games. You can also get software to use your smart phone as an input device. From your phone you can download all of you contacts. It is amazing to me how many things contribute to the memory of your computer.
I am taking this course as a prerequisite for my major, which is elementary education. I think that this class would help me a lot if I become a teacher, but right now im trying to figure out if that is really what I want to do. I have always wanted to teach, but recently I have felt a desire to be out of the classrooms and into the buisness world. I would like to change my major to either event planning or some sort of management that would include country clubs or big annual events such as TPC. I am not really sure what to do, so if you have any input I would greatly appreciate it!
In the last week I learned how to use inspiration to create a concept map. I think that if you are able to create a logical and informative handout it will impact students. It may help learners that are more visual. I also think that concept maps can be beneficial to me when I study. They allow you to create a outline in a creative and memorable way.

The first topic that caught my eye in chapter one was the part about these so called "digital students." It says that these kids can be defined by three different things. The first thing is that they are able to communicate with several different tools. The next thing that distingushes them is their ability to multitask. The third thing that sets them apart is their ability to reach separate goals at the same time. I would consider myself as well as most, if not all, of my friends to be a digital student.
Since my last posting I learned how to do several things on Word. We had to make a newsletter, and I learned how to fill in word art as well as banners with pictures that I found on the internet. I think that this is helpful in adding a creative touch to the things that I send to my parents.
I am looking forward to all the things that I am going to learn in this class. I know how to do all of the basics, but I feel like our culture is becoming more technologically advanced, and there are so many things that I have not learned. I think that by the time I am a teacher almost everything will be done by computers.
